"The three grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for."

ABOUT

ABOUT ME

MY APPROACH

An inherent promise of the therapeutic relationship is that it offers us the possibility of grace - to be accepted for who we are. This is why I strive in my practice to connect individuals with the "curious paradox" that Carl Rogers spoke of - namely, "when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." My years in practice have led me to appreciate how the most impactful change in therapy comes not through the exorcising of some fundamental flaw - i.e. "I will love myself only when I am not myself" - but through fostering a more intimate relationship to ourselves, friends, those we call family, and to our communities.

I possess a gentle strength and innate curiosity, and I utilize an integrative approach in my work with clients that incorporates interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioral therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as somatic practices. I am also a certified grief therapist.

MY EXPERIENCE

I have been working in the mental health field since 2007. With my extensive background working in private practice and community agencies, I am comfortable working with adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. In addition, I have a life-long involvement in the arts, including a number of years touring as a musician, so I welcome the opportunity to support others experiencing the unique successes and struggles that accompany the creative life.
